Gary W. Parker- Creative Portrait Photographer
I’m Gary Parker – a native of Chesapeake Virginia. I received my BA in philosophy and religion, as well as an M.Ed, from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. While I have lived in the Hampton Roads, I have thoroughly enjoyed the wide range of scenery offered by our beautiful area. As a photographer I usually find myself in Daytona, New Smyrna, State Parks, and in obscure places with wildlife.
I initially fell in love with photography over 5 years ago as an Academic Advisor. It all started through photographing nature and landscapes. There is just something about the natural world that has always set my heart and mind at ease. Whether this be staring up at the heavens, looking out into a clear landscape, or watching the social interactions of the animal world.
It’s simple, it’s beautiful, and most importantly, it’s inspiring. The natural world offers so much to us but we rarely ever take the time to experience it.
I view photography as a gift because it has allowed me to express myself when words could not. If you’re anything like me, once you find something that seems like “purpose”, and it feels right, you follow your heart. This has caused many of those close to me to point out the obvious- I always have a camera. My reply is that a photo speaks more words than I have ink and paper.
It’s a fact of life that moments are just that- moments. They vanish as quickly as they come and the only things that can capture them are a camera and your forgetful memory. Sure, I could keep a journal (and I do), but there’s only so many words you can use to accurately describe a sunset, sunrise, and interactions between people. But a photo, with excellent composition, will speak more words than any thesaurus ever could.
When something is captured and immortalized in a photo, the memory is forever unchanging. It’s a reminder of what you were feeling, seeing, and experiencing. Your memory tends to lose these important details. The sunrise becomes less magnificent and inspiring, acts of kindness become less kind and more the norm, and the joy you had becomes distant. One only needs to look back at photos to arouse those same feelings they had when the photograph was taken. We will always forget but a photo does not!
This same passion and determination for perfection exists with photographing you and your loved ones. I want you to remember every detail, every emotion, and create portraits you will have for the rest of your life.

Whether it’s helping Gary with photography sessions, keeping the office organized, or taking your calls, I am always happy to help! I am the office manager and photography assistant for the company and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
I was a military brat growing up, so even though I was born in California and have lived all across the US, I now call Virginia my home. I love the outdoors (just like Gary!) and I love helping people. I have worked with many non-profits over the years – from soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and a few different universities.
Now that we are in the photography business together, I have found that we are able to help people in a different way – capturing those special moments at people’s weddings, during their engagement sessions, and special family sessions – these are moments that no one wants to forget.
I hope that we are able to capture those extraordinary moments in your life – ones that you can keep and cherish forever.
